Dr Kiyork is very pleased to be able to offer the Mako™ robotic arm assisted partial knee replacement platform for his patients at both Sydney Adventist Hospital and at The Northern Beaches Hospital.
This exciting and advanced technology allows for high levels of accuracy in operative planning as well as bone resection measurement and component sizing. Dr Kiyork is very happy to be able offer this technique, when partial knee replacement is indicated.
A pre-operative CT scan is performed. This allows three dimensional measurements to be made. Dr Kiyork is able to plan, in three dimensions, component size and placement. The Mako robotic arm then helps him achieve the pre-operative planned resections to allow component implantation, position and ligament balancing to a high degree of accuracy.
As in all cases, each individual patient’s situation differs and a formal clinical assessment is made before treatment is recommended, whether that treatment be non-operative or operative. The decision to go ahead with surgery, if indicated, is made with informed consent of the patient.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. The information provided here is for general educational purposes only and not to be taken as specific advice. Please contact Dr Kiyork's rooms about whether a robotic partial knee replacement is appropriate for your individual situation.
